The main problem is that I would need about $4000-5000 to start me uo there, for rent and flights etc

That sounds fairly expensive, you basically just need to fly and ship your property there, or?
It's of course always a bit of a leap of faith, if the job sucks or you encounter other problems or uncomfortabilities, the exit option is quite costly.

You need 2 months rent in advance plus an advance for utilities plus flights. I think I could get used to the weather and the surfing etc
