Reread my posts in that thread. Action is NOT a bad thing, "pew pew pew"... as in little crappy pea shooter phasers ... is definitely bad in my book. I liked the dune buggy scene and I liked seeing Picard have a good time. I enjoyed watching the 1701-E dish out some phaser blasts and torpedo vollies as Picard gave the commands for manuering and tactics (didn't see any of that command presence in the new film) Action and adventure are not a bad thing. Mindless, stupid, pop corn inducing crap is bad TREK, for me anyway. Like I have said before, Nutrek is a fun action adventure space flick, just not good Trek. It's an opinion, nothing more

You want stupid in the dune buggy scene then why don't we ask how amazingly convenient it is that, having never (ever) in Star Trek seen a motorized vehicle such as the Argo in use by Starfleet, isn't it just unbelievably lucky that when Picard decides to randomly take the Argo for a jaunt the first race they encounter on the surface has exactly the same kind of motorised vehicles?

Despite no other race on Trek ever having been seen using them?

Nemesis is choc-full of such mindlessly stupid things and utterly, utterly crap itself. I'll stick with the original TWOK, of the two.

At least it entertains as oppose to embarresses.

Picard walking through the Scimitar ALONE killing several Remans... with one shot, while he is not hit... That's pew-pew.
Pike DID issue tactical maneuvers and Robau as well
