All taken together... the extras weren't that much. Too short and nothing really new, I think.

I'm sure there will be another "Special Edition" down the line...

There's probably going to be ten "Special Editions"......each one with something slightly different.

Usually some background stuff is interesting, but I wouldn't pay extra money for it. The only movie I know with some really great DVD extras is Dark City.

All the more reason to do what I've done. Generally, I only watch special features once and never really return (Blade Runner's 2007 release is an exception). Not worth the extra 12-15 bucks IMO.

Well, i've got mine in Europe from a post-order catalogue, so to begin, the boxart is different than the U.S. version. The quality is dvd-quality, i do'nt think it's HD, but nevertheless it has a flawless (no dust or scratchmarks on the copy) version of the movie.

On the extra dvd you get commentary by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci. A special called 'A New Vision' is included and summons up how it led to this great movie. Also, very important for all of us diehard fans, is the Gag Reel. A musthave.

Then you get all the deleted scenes which, after seeing the movie, gives a bit more insight and depth in the story. Another small special called 'To Boldly Go', plus all the castings are very interesting to see. Then, you get extra information on al the created aliens and last but not least there is a special on the musical score and how that process went.

I really recommend the 2dvd or 3dvd Blueray edition for all the fans, since the bonus material gives us fans that extra information we all love so much.

Not worth the extra bucks IMO.

Besdies, I've already seen all the deleted scenes
