As we Germans like to say, tauche deinen Füller nie in Firmentinte, never dip your pen into company ink.

That's far classier than the American idiom, scheißen Sie nicht, wo Sie essen.

I guess it depends on perspective. From my perspective I work in a large office with many, many married couples who work together and who met in the office.

Plus there's a lot of couples that come and go. Luckily it's a big enough office to accomodate them all!!

Obviously smaller workplaces are harder to avoid someone in - but if you like someone enough - just take the chance and worry about the rest later!

Sorry for the mutilation, but I just had to cut this line out of context.

Of course your point is correct, there is nothing wrong with love at work if you don't mind to see your partner the entire day. I just think that it could backfire and create complications if things don't work out or someone gets promoted.

Normally, a promoted person wouldn't be on the same direct area as their partner.

So a wife would not be responsible for a group her husband was in etc - people get reallocated in that kind of scenario, so there are balances in place to counter problems like that.

Also we have a lot of different departments, so some couples don't work closely together at all.

But of course, that flexibility is a benefit of a larger workplace.

To be honest, I've never heard of too many complications arising in our place, but, of course - that's not to say they don't occur from time to time!

Exactly! This is also very true. Or they might have a crush on a new hire.

You never know what will happen in a workplace relationship, some turn out horribly, horribly bad. Now in my case I fell deeply in love, got married, bought a house and had children. But who knows it might work out great for you.

I say screw workplace policy, or the awkwardness that might result. It is harder to find love than a job, IMO. Btw, haven't you ever read or seen Romeo and Juliet?
