Maybe they will now that NuTrek seems to be such a success and has renewed interest in Star Trek. They might just see this as a springboard for a more modern Trek TV sereies. You never know.

Personally, I think the way it's going to go is that the movies will continue the alternate universe and the next TV series will continue the prime universe in some form...

but what can they do now in the alternate universe can they bring in things that you loved from the original tv series or will they just do it as they want.

with two universes now..cbs-paramount (why not just become one company hmm?) they really should do a vote.
or do 2 series, one in the prime, one in the alternate that way all fans and the new are being reached. and as for the cannonites. my empire shall be on your door shortly
