Default Was Kes very clever?

I was watching the episode where Kes first starts to learn about human anatomy from the doctor and she is very quick and soaking in all the info. Does this suggest that as a species that only lives for 9 years, she has too learn really really fast because her childhood is so much shorter than ours or was she just very clever?

Ocampa naturally learn faster than humans, otherwise they would only be able to read and write once they reach their middle life and calculus once they are nearly dead
Kes in particular seemed to be above-average-Ocampan curious and intelligent. She was also a better character than the Borg babe who substituted her.

That's what I thought. That is was because of their life span they would have to learn quicker than us

As I get older, I find Kes to be a MUCH more interesting character than Seven. Hmmm, I wonder why?

I think that their short lifespan was most clearly pointed out in "Before and After" where Kim married Paris' and Kes' daughter yet IMO, they could have thematized more strongly how astonishing it has to be to all the humans and other long-living species aboard the Voyager to live alongside people who mature so rapidly.

The tits factor becomes weaker, that marks the end of puberty and the beginning of adolescence.

Kes generally annoyed me, and I couldn't even really tell you why. I much prefer 7.

Seven provided plenty of story-potential wheras Kes did not, the role was perhaps too subtle among all the other ordinary officer types.
But with Seven and the Doc, the series had two Spock-like characters which was (although they made a fun team) just a little bit too much IMO.

It's that and what you mentioned to Capt. Tom. I believe that Seven was overused (as was the Doctor). At least every episode at the outset wasn't about Kes.

Well, it wasn't as bad as Kes becoming Supergirl.

I'm with Captain Tom on this. I never really liked Kes and I'm not entirely sure why
