Default Postponing Star Trek 11 6 months.

How do you feel about it. I am upset over this. Six months of more waiting to see something new in the Star Trek Universe. It has moved from Christmas 08 to May 09.

I'm alright with it. There are a lot of threads about this. The reasoning though is that Paramount thinks this movie can become a summer blockbuster and moving it to a time when there will be more of a movie going audience and when they think they can get a higher return. It's a vote of confidence and that actually EXCITES me.

Not to sound conceded, but I don't care about how it does only on opening weekend and about other people seeing it. I just really want to see it as soon as possible. We have been years without anything new in Star Trek.

PS- I do hope Paramount makes a ton of money off this movie and alot of people go to see this movie on opening weekend(as that is how it is deemed a success nowadays). I hope this spawns a renewal in Star Trek. Again, I just really want to see it as soon as possible.

Well, since you're in the U.S., May 8 2009 will likely be "as soon as possible" for you to see it. Enjoy the anticipation with the rest of us!

lol, Kumatao missed the thread right after we all found out in January.

MAN!!! talk about some pissed off people. But, I guess enough time has passed for us to either accept it or agree with the release date change.

It does suck to have to wait, at the time, an additional 5 months, but this will give the film a chance to do very well, and for the film makers more time to make a great film.

Well again, rather wait more time for a good movie.

It's more like 4.5 months - and at least it's the Federation Day.

That could be one of the best marketing items they could use for the film, if Paramount thinks of it...

Considering that most Americans can't tell you that "Independence Day" is the holiday they've come to know as "The Fourth of July," I highly doubt any of them would have ever heard of Federation Day. Somehow I doubt Paramount will market toward it.
