As long as the Engine Room still has that open energy transfer conduit gap where a crewman can stand in the way just as a power-mad computer amps up the juice and evaporates the redshirt, I'll be happy.
![]() But seriously, again I hope it's reminiscent of TOS without being slavishly so: the schematic panel for monitoring engineering functions shouldn't look like they're watching the NYC subway track system. "Pelham 123, why have you stopped? Scott out." [let's see who gets THAT reference!]

Hmh I'd go for the classic split level look, maybe modernize a few details but without changing the style too drastically. They shouldn't forget to add those funny grids that Scotty always used to hold on to whenever the ship buckled. Hah!

I'd like to see the old design updated a bit with a lot higher production values that were available for TOS.

Chances are though that they'll break the mold.

I vote for more things you can grab and whack a bad guy with like TOS's engine room allways had!!

Keeping with the same basic idea of the TOS and Movies, I would like to see an engine that is worthy of the Enterprise, in a Grand Scale. Maybe a few decks high, and a shot looking all the way down the warp nacelle, and not the forced perspective of TMP.
...and no cheesy neon blinking either |

Ii want to see a longer wider engine room. One that makes you feel like you're in a ship with a huge amount of space but closed in.

Presumably that will be one advantage of the large budget for this film: bigger sets... and not just for the sake of being bigger, but to actually add depth (literal and figurative) to the ship and its functions. Plus give fans a little more of the things they enjoy, as well.
