I'd sure hate to lose the apparently functionless things that stick out of the wall and can be pulled out to be used as weapons in a fight...I always loved that little design detail.

I think they'll have to at least pay homage to the original design...

well if it' all revamped then don't leave out the engine room. I actually don't want to see a open cavity warpcore. It should be almost completely intergrated core...non ejectable.

Yeah, the engine room was allways good, if one needed a weapon, or a giant wrench!!

I'd love to see an intergrated, horizontal warp core, a tribute to TOS's original design.

I think if they take the original ideas from the blueprints and the 60's show and then tweek them to make them more realistic, it would be awesome. I still have both sets of NCC-1701 and they have some great ideas that were never realized on film. (In 1973, an officially licensed set of blueprints of the ship was done by Franz Joseph)

Starships back then didn't have the whole ejectable thing working for them
There was a theory that the warp core of the consitution class was in the nacelles.
remember these ships were like subs...no excape pods or ejectables...

with exception of the constitutions saucer.

But even the saucer seperation was never used on TOS to my knowlege, and only mentioned in an episode. Would look cool though. I would assume at that time it would be a emergency, and it would be perment.

It might be possible to have a horizontal warp core, ala Star Trek TMP, combined with a space on one side similar to the Original Series.

Kind of an updated blend of sorts, and I think it could work.

I'm really curious to see this one.
