That would be cool if there was an animated show and got Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the rest of the cast to do the voices do you see that happening

I don't think it would matter who voices animated characters this time around. The original TAS was 5 years after TOS had become a hit in syndication. The voices were already familiar. The new cast voices are not as easily recognizable.

Besides, voice actors generally do not get the big tv/movie salaries "face" actors get. Most work for scale, and do multiple jobs in a day's time. I say let them have their medium and keep the "faces" out of it.

EDIT: There are many voice actors who could do the job extremely well. One in particular comes to mind ...

I'd love to see an anime verison of TAS. Japaneese Animation allows for adult themes more than American style animation. Besides, seeing Uhura with those big, expressive eyes would melt icebergs.

Stories yea, and the artwork is often great, but the animation sucks eggs. Besides, plenty of adult themes in American style animation. One needs to look no further than Drawn Together.

I always wanted to see the second 5-year mission in the TMP era, partly because it was the one time we had all the original characters appearing together plus lots of alien crew milling around. It's much easier to have recurring alien crew in animated shows because they're no more expensive or time-consuming to produce than the humans! Because voice actors can play different parts you can also get a better mix of recurring characters in animated shows. If each season had something of an overriding ongoing arc, like Stargate or Buffy, I think it could be enjoyable.
