Specifically; the over-acting and rolling of his eyes to "sell the scene".

yes and I am pleased that he was able to pay homage to the Kirk in the original series but still make it his own.

Several moments were completely Kirk to me:

- His swagger when he comes on to the Bridge at the end. "Bones ..."
- When he's gettings Spock riled up to get him to show emotion. "That, that doesn't ... bother you, does it." in that staccato speech pattern.
- "Spock, it'll work !"

I would think of the scense where pine is in the transporter room on the pad with spock.. and spock is talking to uhura.. and then the log supplement he gave when he was on delta vega after making it to the surface and being chased by the cloverfield monster.
