I just think Trekkie comes off the tongue easier, especially if you couple it with something...

If one were to be a grammar queen, "trekkie" implies that you are a fan while "trekker" implies you are a person that "treks" somewhere. Maybe "treknophile" would work??? (Of course, I'm being silly here...)
I grew up being a trekkie so that's what I'm used to hearing.

"Trekkie" - Devoted to TOS only. "Trekker" - Fan of all of the Trek series. As a Klingon, if I was a "Trekkie" I would have a smooth forehead. But I have grown. I have found that to grow, you must "Trek" forward and not live in only the past. I am a "Trekker" and proud to wear my bumpy forehead. Qapla'
