When you read Countdown, it is true that not a lot more than a couple extra lines of dialogue would have gone a long way to making him more substantial.

1. Michael Giacchino's score for the entire movie, especially "Enterprising Young Men."
2. The uniforms were spot-on awesome!
3. One line from one actor who I would've never imagined being able to pull it off: "Mooring's retracted, Captain. Dock control reports ready. Thrusters fired. Separating from spacedock."
Christopher Pike: Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's and yours. I dare you to do better.

This was an awesome moment, even though I'm not in love with the new design. This kind of reminded me of the shot in TWOK, where the Ent rises up behind the Reliant.

Now that I've "stolen" everyone's automatic first answer, let's see what they can come up with. XD

I loved the retro uniforms, and have been won over now by the idea of new actors taking on the roles. Looking forward to the next installment.
You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. This is not logical, but it is often true." Spock (Amok Time)

The E as it comes out of warp all weapons firing on the missiles fired from the Narada at the jellyfish ship as Spock steals it.
Those were fantastic big E moments! I wasn't crazy about certain aspects of the design at first, but those scenes changed my mind.
