I like the progression shown on screen from little canoes all the way up to warp flight.

My only complaint about the ENT opening is the scene from the back of some ship right before we see the NX-01. It must be an earlier warp ship but we only see the back of what looks like rocket thrusters and nacelles.

Edit: what is the ENT theme song's name? I thought it was "faith of the heart"
It is the name.

Wasn't that ship you saw, Cochran's ship from ST VII, First Contact?

He means the ships after Cochrane's right before we see the NX-01.

Here a great entry about the ship from the title sequence by Doug Drexler, arguably not as nice as the Warp Delta or the Intrepid type.
Thank you Horatio - I too was always curious about that mysterious ship.

I can't understand why I keep hearing Star Trek Fans putting it down. This show attempted to answer so many questions we all had about what went before TOS. How Starfleet began and what lead to the formation of The Federation. It was beautifully produced and to be honest, had a much more realistic feel to it than the series that came after it. It was gritty and raw and I thought it was a triumph for the franchise and all who were involved with it.

I think the TOS fans were the ones that gave it a bad wrap because it re-imagined the Trek universe before TOS. The writers gave themselves a way out of canon violations with the temporal cold war idea. The past we see in "Enterprise" had already been and was being altered from the future by future guy with the help of the suliban, hence first contact with the Klingons is sped up. As for other changes like the NX-01, or T'Pal these were welcome changes, IMO. The prehistory of TOS Trek had never really been fully fleshed out, this was a welcome attempt to do so.

There was nothing before TOS, so it cannot be a re-imagination.
Not that I care whether ENT messed with canon or not, but if you take a look at the supposed continuity-violations, they all turn out to be non-existant:

Q: The NCC-1701 was said to be the first ship named Enterprise!
A: Sure, the first Federation ship named Enterprise.

Q: The ship looks like the Akira-class upside-down and I will call it Akiraprise because I hate it!
A: All human/Federation starships look similar and obviously the Akira-class was a hommage to the NX-class. Preferences have nothing to do with continuity, so call it as you like to.

etc. etc. The only real continuity glitch is Romulans having cloaking technology in "Minefield", something which was noticed before the fourth seasons Romulan story arc.
