Actually it picks up where the film left off. The second book follows the films continuity not the original books.

I stand corrected. It's been awhile.

No worries. I haven't read it just heard about it. Jenny and Forrest's mother don't pass away in the original book but apparently in the "sequel" they are absent as they passed away in the film. There has also been talk about making the second book in to a film. More info here.

It is gratifying that so many here have read the original book.
I consider it a literary great and hold it in high esteem.

I'd put Thomas Harris' "Hanibal Lector" triology of books in there.

The Stand, by Stephen King.

So is there any credibility to the claim the trailer makes that this is based on a true story? I've done a few goggle searches and nothing seems to be coming up. My guess is this is fiction with a Blair Witch style advertising campaign to make people question weather it is real or not.

I take the "real story" like I do anything Hollywood produces that's "Based On A True Story"

BW was a neat bit of advetising at the time you gotta admit.

Ah the Stand...what and intresting movie that made.
Should be a good read.

I'm Foundation and Empire. (A thoroughly boring saga)
