personally I think Shatner should give praise to Pine for playing younger Kirk

He probably didn't. It's probably like if I got a new job, I probably wouldn't care very much what my successor in my current job was like.

No, probably not. He got paid well for what he did, he did a good job so I can't see why Shatner's opinion would matter to him.
