Default What job would you do on a starship?

If you were given a commission on a starfleet vessel, what job would you want to do? You can't be Captain or first officer as you would have to do something else to earn the rank.

I think I would be an engineer. Mainly because I like problem solving and they always seem to be in the thick of the action.

I think I would like to be the doctor. He can relieve the captain of command if it was deemed medically necessary.

I'd like to be the tactical officer, cause I like weapons and to blow things out of the sky

Any job, seriously. I would make sure though to not wear a red shirt. May be it can raise chances of survival to wash the shirt at 90 degrees celsius and hope the collor washes out and turnes into pink?

I'd be an operations officer, serving as a liaison between the various departments onboard.

Don't wanna be on a Starship. I wanna be on Deep Space Nine and maybe open a book store on the Promenade or something. None of this Starship nonsense.

I'd work on a starbase as well - but one of those big Earth Spacedock ones. Then I'd want to be responsible for the whole Docking Bay inside.
