Star Trek never won an Oscar and never will.
Even Goldsmith didn't win it for his unique theme.

Oscars aren't important anyway. Not always the best wins it.

And anyhow I guess we we won't see a movie that will be made for an oscar. A good movie hopefully, but one to make money and to revitalize the franchise, not to change the world.

I still wouldn't count TREK out on likely nominations in the technical categories at the very least. Whether it wins one of those or not depends on the final film itself, but it's certainly the type (and high profile) of film which would get notices in nominations.

Get ready to fill out your ballots in early 2010.

I do not think the movie will have a snow ball chance in hell of getting Best Motion Picture solly because it is a sci fi movie.

However, I think if done well, Star Trek could win for SFX, Screen Play, Wardrobe, and other smaller awards.

They just don't give those to Sci Fi...and it's unfair...they acclaim drama's.
It's not fair because there are episodes if exposed to the general public like films are would have rave reviews.
