I mean age wise, this new actor is in his 40's, and Chris Pine is in his 20's, so it is possible this is the Captain, Kirk serves with.

I hate to be the one to bust this on you guys, but a captain in Kirk's day wouldn't be a redshirt, he'd be a gold shirt. In the TOS era, gold stood for command, red for engineering and security, and blue for sciences. Just f.y.i. guys, don't flame me now.

"Our Captain's needs are simple, but his methods are complex!,
We found him with five partners each of a different world and sex!,
The shore police were on their way, we had no second chance!
We beamed him up in the nick of time with the remnants of his pants!"

From "Banned From Argo" a famous Star Trek filk song.

that was pretty good Berengarius and I know gold stood for command. Kirk was the only gold shirt on the Enterprise anyways so it is an easy assumption to make oh well maybe I was just curious.

Do you think we'll get to see Captain Garrovick of the Farragut?

It's late here so excuse me...

I am confused, we, or I, never said anything about the color of the uniforms.
So, what you are saying is correct. But, the possibility of Kirk serving under another captain more than likely had to happen at some point. If not, Kirk would have never became a Captain.
lol, they just do not hand out command of a ship fresh out of the academy.
