That's what I'm trying to figure out, .
My mom was in the army over 25 years ago and she had her usual
combat uniform, but then she mostly wore her dress uniform which
was the navy top and a skirt...She was a secretary so she rarely had
to wear the combat gear.

What do you guys think??
i think they should have the option...

That's what I was thinking, a female combat uniform is going to look like a mans, becuase a combat uniform is made for practicality, and not for fashion. I remember seeing high school ROTC girls wearing the skirts (and they weren't mini-skirts).

But what about a duty uniform? Has anyone served on board an aircraft carrier or something: a time when you were on duty, but not necessarily in combat. What did women wear? Can anyone chime in?

I agree. I never was a big fan of the mini-skirt uniform, either.

I see nothing wrong with the mini skirt in Trek.
Although I hope those Inertial Dampening Fields are stable outwise we'd get more than an eye full.

Keep that shaking to a minimum please...

I also agree they should get to choose but I don't think we'll see to much of the skirt except on either Uhura or Chapel, if she's in the movie.

I think "options" is the way to go...and it can be conveyed by showing female crew in pants in other scenes...but I say, Uhura needs to show the legs. Sorry....maybe it's a bit of a girl crush, but it wouldn't be Trek if Uhura weren't showing acres of lovely lady flesh...

Dress uniform for women in the military is still a skirt, though, not a particularly short skirt and certainly not a "just a bit below the crotch so I have to wear special uniform "shorts" in case I fall off my chair, yet again".

Come to think of it, doesn't Scotty's full dress uniform include a kilt? I do believe it does! I say letting a man wear a skirt and telling a woman she can't is sexist! Let em' wear skirts!
