Default The Wild Wild West tv series Is OS Star Trek, only no Spock

I have been viewing some 2nd season The Wild Wild West.

James T. West is almost identical to James T. Kirk!

Artemus Gordon is McCoy,Checkov and Sulu.

Bright colors are amazing!

Lots of escapes and technology.

Up against many of the Star Trek actors.

"Magic" using villains.

Warlike villains, mysterious women etc.

Cliff hanger on each commercial break.

Overlapping years of when filmed.

They even had the "Arena" Gorn rock in an episode.

Please, your thoughts?

I suppose much of this was known.....

However, the similarities are endless!

Actually it was more of an attempt to revive the t.v. western by feeding off of the soaring popularity of the secret agent films of that era. It didn't work, and though the series was well made and generally fondly remembered by fans, the t.v. western faded away.

Ahh, I see. Thanks!

They did have a Mission Impossible mask in one episode. Ha! Ha!

Yeah, westerns never made a good return, not even the
movie ones. Aside from Deadwood, but that was vastly different
and canceled, of course.

Anyway, they sure made a good attempt to compete
against those spy shows.

I always liked that show and looked forward to the remake til they cast Will Smith as James West. Now I'm a Will Smith fan but your asking for it when you change a prominent character to that extent, any chance of bringing the existing fan base into the theater drops dramatically. The same thing happened with Daredevil, that movie had enough problems without changing the Kingpin into a black man.
