Now that sounds intriguing, and certainly up my alley of TV-dom.

Oh, and this should jog the memory of anyone who was a fan of the show...

That has been covered well enough already I think.
A supernatural version of a daily soap opera that ran for about 5 years (information states it has 1,245 episodes in the first run series and only 12 episodes for the remake).
Ghosts, witches, werewolves, vampires, zombies... you get the idea.
Very progressive for its time. It certainly attained cult status.

If you noticed in another thread, there was mention that Ben Cross (Sarek in nuTrek) played the vampire Barnabas Collins in the remake version. The thread was discussing Sarek and aristocratic mannerisms the actors brought to the character (Lenard and Cross both).

Depp's version seems to take the idea to the movies instead of yet another tv remake version. That may end up being an interesting development.
Apparently for Depp, this role is not only the culmination of a lifetime and why he got into acting in the first place but also the reason he purchased the rights to it. This role is his personal magnum opus, his personal holy grail.

Its at Comic-con that Depp and Burton made a surprise appearance for Tim Burton's movie "A Christmas Carol".

I personally loved Ben Cross (Sarek) as Barnabas. Depp could do it! OH Johnny Depp could do it, I can see him playing it!!! But I would hate to see Tim Burton "weird" it all up.
