Yep. We got to the moon first, so maybe it's someone else's turn for Mars... maybe China? After all, Mars IS "The Red Planet."

And yeah... Even with an ongoing string of Presidents who are pro-space exploration, the challenges and the sheer cost of manned missions to Mars would be so great that it would almost by neseccity be a project for a group of nations... like the G-8.

Want to explose the solar system, humanity? Then it's time to grow up and start working together.

I'm surprised no one has said that we'll blow ourselves up before having had a chance to go to Mars. With nuclear proliferation the way it is....

George Taylor: I'm a seeker too. But my dreams aren't like yours. I can't help thinking that somewhere in the universe there has to be something better than man. Has to be.

Unless NASA can provide that organization without spending 100's of billions in taxes I will withhold support. By far most people agree. Perhaps at first glance I am overstating the amount but considering the huge cost overruns of every major NASA program I see no reason to believe that this one wont be the same for such a huge undertaking.

My feeling is more than 50 years, but then that's not never - so I went with 50.

I put 30, but should have put 50 as I think it will be between 30 and 50 years.
