I learned real quick that most visits to the doctor were worthless. When I was a kid and my mom would take me, it was always the usual, "get rest, drink plenty of fluids, take tylenol, etc..." Nothing was ever offered that we didn't already know. Same goes for many soft tissue injuries. The doc will tell you to avoid whatever caused the injury, to take it easy, to stretch and to take OTC pain meds when needed. Unless the injury is so severe that Quark has difficulty doing basic things (like walking), then I wouldn't bother with a doctor's visit unless stretching the area does not work.

In my case, I felt okay MOST of the time, but I couldn't do certain things without my back freaking out. I couldn't turn around and look out the rear window of my car to back-up. Other forms of lifting were also not good. I stretched the area (trust me, when you stretched an injured area you WILL know it!) and I felt much better.
A good GP can tell the diffrence between a strain and something far worse.

true. I suppose I am bias because of my own experiences. 9 trips out of 10 were rather worthless.

Not all GP's are good, or care.

The gym at my work has one. It is great. You can do stretches on this thing that are simply NOT possible to without the cage (or VERY difficult). When I was having my back problem I found a stretch in the book (the cage has a neat book for your use) that targeted the area where my pulled muscle was. After a few stretching sessions I felt much better. Much more effective than pain medication. It treated the cause and NOT just the effect.
This is good, because once medication wears off, the pain comes out of the shadows again.
