Vulcans might decide to clone the remaining members of their race in order to speed up repopulation. That seems to promise some story ideas.

What if the destruction of Vulcan disposes the Romulan high command to extend a hand to the Vulcans since the home planet of their origin was destroyed. This prompts a reunification effort that the Federation and the Romulans begin to work through the diplomatic plans when the Klingons attack knowing that a Romulan was responsible for the destruction of a major part of their fleet.

From that way of looking at things you can picture a possible war between the Klingon and Romulan Empire. The Federation probably wouldn't want to get involved with that war but do send a peace envoy.....hmmm....which would be the best ship to send to help negotiate a peace...
That's a pretty plausible scenario, possibly the best one I've heard. But I think everyone here should remember one thing. What gets peoples rocks off the most or makes them madder than hell usually goes on in the Off Topics forum. If they're checking this site out and supposedly they are I wouldn't be surprised if Abrams and Co. looks to that forum just as much as this one for a plot that elicits an emotional response from the audience.

A movie around the relocation of the Vulcans--BORING!! Sorry Pike--just not a very intriguing idea.

I think the new Vulcan plot would be a bad one. I would want only a mention of the new colony, maybe even a scene or tow of it, but NOT an entire movie based around it.

I thought those 7 were the newest and best of the fleet, for some reason, and that would put the Federation behind by several years just in replacing them.

Has it ever been noted how many of the Enterprise class ships there are or what the fleet is composed of?

That's just what I've been thinking!
Great minds, and all that.....

Fanon suggests (I think it was either first mentioned in the Franz Joseph tech manual or the FASA RPG) that the Enterprise was the second keel to be laid, but the first ship completed. So, the Constitution (NCC-1700) is probably still in the works, but not ready for "beta testing" (to borrow a term from the movie website dossier) yet.

If the Federation was able to lay a Constitution-class keel every year, then, perhaps, there are 3-4 other Connies in various stages of construction. If construction was spread out more, then you might only have one or two more Connies under construction at this point (in addition to the Constitution).

Of course, this is all just speculation, and depends entirely how aggressive the Federation is in producing the 12 Constitutions.

Logic dictates that Hollywood will not use much logic in deciding what will be in the sequel.
