haha yes lets hope they don't do a Battlestar Galactica. If they did they would just make Kirk a woman. Same name same history but just a woman. Just because they can.

Somehow I don't think Chris Pine would be too happy with that turn of events... "I have to wear what?"

Welcome everybody!

As long it isn't a reboot, where just the name of the movie is the same, changes can be made.

As long as they don't give the Big E three nacelles for example or give kirk pointy ears.

Relatively true. I found it annoying when Canon was not followed in the series. especially when it was only as a means to pull ratings by shoving in the borg.
I think most of us can be forgiving to a point so it depends just how far it goes.

I think canon must absolutely be followed. It just makes Star Trek seem more real, and it gives it a uniformality and continuity that other television shows and movies lack.

I voted "It's important but I won't lose sleep over it"...

But I do have a thought....

A lady just appears on the bridge, deftly removes Spock's brain, and takes it home to run her civilization. As advanced as this skill is, her people couldn't run their own civilization.

This episode is canon. Should it be adhered to?

(I trust JJ and Roberto and Alex's good creative judgment.)
