Default UK DVD release date confirmed!!!!

Per Play.com today - November 2nd 2009 is the arrival date!!

A single and a two disc collectors edition, plus two blu ray versions - a standard one and a steelbook special edition using the US poster art.

Because Play.com is a retail site I don't know if I'm permitted to post links to it so I haven't yet. (Admins?)

Is the US information for a similar release date with the same versions? But the extras on the sepcial editions look extremely comprehensive.

Totally switching to blu-ray now!!!

Does anyone know what cover art they will use?

I hope to god its the international poster which reminds me of the excellent first contact poster and pretty much all the other ST theatrical release posters (the heros, the villians, the ships and some scenery!).

November is such a long wait, I will definately be buying the collectors edition, but i have to decide whether I want DVD or Blu Ray.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know where you can buy the international poster in the UK? I remember big Tesco's used to do movie posters but they dont sell them anymore.

Or does anyone have a link to download a hi res poster image? that way I could print it off on A2, that would also be good.

Thanks

Here is the U.S for release date:

Star Trek to Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before

Source: Video Business
July 17, 2009

Paramount Home Entertainment's Star Trek will hit home video as a 1-Disc DVD, a 2-Disc DVD and 3-Disc Blu-ray on November 17 with all the usual extras as well as a new bonus feature on the disc packaging itself, reports Video Business.

With the packaging feature dubbed "augmented reality," consumers will be able to hold their disc packaging in front of any standard Web cam to unlock an interactive hologram tour of the U.S.S. Enterprise. In the tour, which plays on the computer screen, viewers will be able to tour five cabins on the movie's Enterprise and even shoot enemies from the ship's deck.

An early version of the feature, which Paramount tried for the international theatrical release of the film, can be accessed at the Experience the Enterprise website.

Among the other extras on the high-end versions are plot-based deleted scenes, such as a cut scene with a baby Spock, ears and all. Another cut includes an abandoned story line with Nero and a look at Abrams' version of the warrior Klingons.

The Blu-ray set will include a BD Live feature that connects viewers to live updates from space through NASA. Those who want to explore the film's space ships more, also will be able to click on the Star Fleet Vessel Simulator to get a 360-degree view of the Enterprise and other ships.

Can't wait to get my hands on the blu ray box.

At present it appears the 2 disc DVD will use the US poster, as will the Steelbook Blu-ray version.

Usually single disc versions have different artwork and I'm not sure that edition's has been confirmed yet.
