Yes, there was. Forry Ackerman coined the term "Sci Fi" back in the late 1940's. Since then, it's been in general use, as a common slang term. As such, USA Networks couldn't trademark "Sci Fi"... but the new spelling they can!

Doesn't really matter to us, the fandoms. Call a pig "Chanel #5" and it still wallows in the mud and stinks to high heaven! It will remain the channel that hosts 'rasslin' and ghost hunting plumbers and plays only their own, crappy, in-house produced movies.

What a waste, compared to the promise it once had.

If they were going to change the name why not change it completely.

Let them be honest with the name. WSC. (We Suck Channel, or We're Stupid Channel)

I did, it seemed okay. might end up being a good show if they don't mess it up.

I really kinda actually miss when they used to run all of the sci-fi shows and films from the 70's through the 80's....even the cheesey Japanese sci-fi films of the 50's and 60's.
At least they were fun.....the only time I really flip over to the channel now is when they're running a Doctor Who marathon during the week.

Where is the "stupid" option for the poll? I answered "don't care" because there was no "stupid" option. Isn't this name change kind of like spelling "Jenny" with an "I", like "Jenni". It's the same darn sound coming out of your mouth, just spelled different. I think this "name change" wasn't even a real name change, it's just plain stupid!
