I haven't called you anything Horatio, neither a troll, flamer or anything else.
You obviously have some issues of intrest, Horatio, it's up to you express them intelligently. Whatever feelings I do have, which are few, of your actions I remove when I speak to you. It allows me to see you accurately without predjudice. You see, Horatio, I make better decision when I disregard my emotions aswell as yours. That is my strength But it is not ambivalence that I have toward you. You are a fellow member of the forum and I respect your position aswell as Fanwriter's whether or not it is reciprocated. I disagree but it does not lead to an emotional reaction.

OK, Mr.Logic, this has really gone far enough, time to let you take a look in the mirror. You claimed that Fan is gay, an atheist, anti-religious and a flamer ... and that all these are mere facts and not any form of personal attack.
Let's say I'd claim that you are straight, Christian, anti-science, that you cannot spell and that you are a flamer ... and then I'd like to see your reaction and opinion whether these are mere facts or a personal attack. Perhaps you can see now that you have become personal here and that this is pretty bad taste and perhaps you can also understand why people like myself ask for such behaviour to stop. |

Well, I've been on this board for quite awhile and I've never known Horatio or Fan to flame bait or attack people. Challenge people's views, yeah, sure and Fan's style is certainly straight forward and quick to call BS when he sees it, but I've never seen either of these posters attack people, be malicious in their arguments.

You know what? We're all different. All posters are different because of their religious preference: believe, believe a certain way, don't believe. All posters are different because of their political stance: left, right, inbetween. All posters are different because of their sexual orientation: gay, straight, bi, etc. All posters are different because we were born and/or live in different areas of the world and we're brought up with different sets of values and different morality. But what I don't understand is why some of those differences are respected, some are tolerated and some are derided and ridiculed? If we can't coexist with some kind of mutual respect for each other, if we're not mature enough to discuss any subject without getting nasty or bent out of shape, then what's the point? We're all stuck on the same planet after all. We're all human beings. You'd think we could reach a point where we understood that we have differences and not get upset when someone else doesn't agree with us over an issue that each of us take a stand on. If humans are going to live together on this earth with all of these differences, I think we're eventually going to have to do one of two things. We're either going to have to come up with some kind of (and I use the term because I'm a Trekkie and it's therefore familiar to me) prime directive of social discussion and conduct that prevents us from minding other people's business, or segregate ourselves into social, religious, political and sexual enclaves. Somehow, the latter solution doesn't appeal to me at all, probably because I have people in this world who are my friends, and whom I love very much that exhibit all of these differences. So what do we do? I'm open to suggestions. Can we live with our differences, or is it unavoidable that we will ultimately come to blows over them? I for one would rather die than ever harm another human being simply because I disagreed with them. Just my two cents.
