Thumbs up Federation Day!

Since this is the Fourth of July, does anyone remember any references to Federation Day in the universe of Star Trek? I know that there must be at least one, since the term exists, but any thoughts on how it is celebrated, for example?

I remember the TNG crew playing a poker game called Federation Day, Worf didn't like it because it had too many wild cards.

In addition to material in Memory Alpha (based on canon), there's also this from Memory Beta (not limited to canon):

Quote:
The anniversary of the signing of the Articles of the Federation became known as Federation Day, a patriotic holiday for the UFP. (TNG episode: "The Outcast", ENT novel: Last Full Measure)

Apparently there are two important non-canon dates:
May 8 in the Star Charts and Oct 11 from a prop never seen on screen (VII).

Federation Day is probably celebrated just like the Fourth of July (or any similar event), except instead of shooting fireworks, they shoot photon torpedoes...

Probably, but if they do use photons, they'd have to shoot them in space or risk contaminating a planet. And since they'd have to shoot them into space, there will be no sound, and part of the fun of fireworks is the big boom and the accompianing "thud"
