Default Cloaking Device

I know if would not have made for interesting television, but who else thought the logical decision when stranded alone in the Delta quadrant would be to equip the ship with a cloaking device?

That would have let them avoid SO much trouble.

Would any of you have done the same? It's not like the Romulans would get upset over it.

I'm sure if they found one it would have been a great idea.

Yeah, I'd say they would've used it. Couldn't they replicate the parts to build one. I know the only reason the federation doesn't have them is cause of a treaty, but they must know how to build one. Couldn't they have replicated what they needed to build one or would've that taken too much of their reserves?

It's not common knowledge and the reserach is banned in the federation with the technology.

I never got that, the 1 major enemy during the Tng series (Romulans) violated treaties left and right, Mind you they had cloaking tech at their disposal, what are they afriad of? the federation might actually figgure out the whole firing while cloaked trick and dominate them?
talk about cutting the proverbial lugnuts off the federation, Personally i liked Admiral Pressman, That guy had the inovation and sense to know the technoligy was needed,

(Edit:had to look up the admirals name from the starship database on startrek.com)

That is a good point, I wonder why the Borg did not perfect cloaking and us it as a tool to assimilate everything in their path.

Same reason why the Borg weren't used in DS9. The show would be over too soon
