The creature did not work much better in the novel either (OK, the FX could be done better today). Which should not be surprising as It is psycho horror, a mysterious being which is nourished by fear, adepts to and amplifies those very fears.

Well, it appears that Warner Bros is looking to do a new film version for sometime in 2011.

They will still have the problem of condensing 1350 pages into a two-hour film though. Which will be interesting.
