Default J.J Abrams confirms his continued Star Trek involvement..

From the recent Saturn Awards.

Interesting possiblities regarding the focus of the possible foe of the next film. P.S the video there is just an advert, not to do with Abrams.

The interview is below it.

You know what? I was just thinking about that this morning, for some reason. I was thinking that if I ever had the chance to meet him, I would tell him how deeply grateful I am that he brought Star Trek back to life in such a amazing and awe-inspiring way. But then I thought: "What if he doesn't come back to direct the next movie?..." And I had a bit of panic attack because quite frankly I really don't see anyone else doing it as fabulously as he did...

But my fears have been put to rest.... YAY!!!!!

Star Trek needs orci, kurtzman and abrams. whenever they get together, as shown here, it turns to gold. Now from what ive heard about transformers 2 (havent seen it yet) I hope they dont screw treks story up like they did 2.

They won't screw it up. They made it clear it's all about the characters, and their relationships/story. Kinda like the serie Lost I think.

From the interview it looks like Abrams feels its important that Trek has a villian character. That it be contest between good/evil. This worries me, Trek always tried to humanize its villians, not create a purely evil character.

If you ask me, I think that trying to "humanize" everything and everyone is a weakness of Trek. Aliens are called aliens for a reason. We should stop making them act as though part of them is human. That's why I really liked the Hirogens on Voyager: they had no humanity in them at all and that's what made them stand apart from some of the other species. Can't say they were evil either because hunting other species was part of their social construct, if you will.

Good point, LadyV. Sometimes, the alien just wants to eat your brains, and no amount of lecturing is gonna change it's mind.

Now that is one contradictory vote of confidence.

So are you saying the next movie takes place on the planet Zombie IV?
