Well.
I just bought for my 5yo son the Animated Series which he is totally enjoying. So we watch "yesteryear" together, and while it is not by any means a direct copy I was stunned at the threads in this cartoon and the new movie. (I had never seen TAS before) Anyone else catch this?? If you get the chance you should check it out. For those that have not seen and want a small taste, Sarek says in the show to Spock that only he can choose between his two paths, etc. It was a bit shocking to me really. Since it's all Star Trek, maybe it shouldn't of hit me like that. I dunno.

yes, i saw it recently. I think it was definately an influence. I noticed at least three things that were used in the movie from this episode. The children teasing Spock, what Sarek says to Spock, and Old Spock meeting younger Spock. Very good episode and written by veteran Star Trek writer D.C. Fontana.
