No Kahn and no wrestlers. Actors! The movie needs actors and good writers. If they get someone like The Rock then we have the worst of TOS season 3 when they started bringing in celebrities (that lawyer guy... remember him) and dressing like hippies. It would turn Star Trek into a total joke. Horrible, horrible idea.

Yes. I would love to see something akin to Devil in the Dark. Something more than just one guy fighting another guy. I can see that in any cop show. Star Trek is better than that.

The Rock is a pretty classy guy. He's also a certified star with more than a dozen non-wrestling movies to his credit, including a major movie in current release. Get Smart (2008), in which he had a significant role, made over $130,000,000.

Moreover, he's still very affordable, it would seem.

True, he hasn't won awards the way Eric Bana ("Nero") has, but I think he's actually much better known across the board in the United States.

If the next movie casts him as Khan, they could probably easily afford a recognizable second guest star as Joachim, Khan's second in command. I'm tentatively thinking Dirk Benedict ("Apollo" from the original BSG), which could bring in the new-BSG/Ron Moore crowd.

So far, in his career I have to say I don't think he's demonstrated quite the acting chops needed to play Khan, especially if Orci and Kurtzman keep some of the cheesier dialogue lines in there!
