My main problem with it was that by the end of it I just didn't give a $hit. I was waiting for them to revive Prime, no drama, was waiting for Prime to kick the main 'fallen' guy's butt, no drama. There was nothing keeping me in the movie after the fight in the woods where Prime was killed. That was effective, not bad, a little drama happening there, but afterwards, I just really got bored.

The first Transformers blew it away by light years.

On a side note, the effects were amazing! It is truly amazing how photo-real CGI is becoming these days!

Yeah... this movie was simply a VFX playground... only Transformers can pull something like this... its the robots that we want to see.

$390 million worlwide in a single week means it can probably sustain a semi-heavy drop. It's already pulled in more than half what the first took globally it's whole run!

Speaking of which, Shia whatshisname was hired to promote the Transformers 2 game which will be on all three consoles. But he also said while being interviewed for it by someone that he hates the Wii and would never play the game on it. Im sure Nintendo was most unpleased.

Perhaps, just a tad....but then, Star Trek is based on a TV show over 40 years old, and there are some here who take their Trek mighty seriously!

This upcoming weekend is Independance day weekend, so it likely won't see a drop, but a boost. Plus, it is facing no serious or significant competition. The number two movie this weekend, The Proposal, made a puny $18.5 million. The following week, people will be experiencing TDK syndrome, so don't expect it to drop until after its third week.

In which case, even with the release of Public Enemies either a lift or a stronger hold than would normally be expected is likely.

Although, while $18.5 seems puny in comparison, in terms of The Proposal it's actually a decent performance for a rom-com that only cost a fraction of what Transformers did.

Anyways, Transformers 2 is already on $420 mill now, so it's money in the bank for the studio at this point!

Well, I suppose the main difference there to me is that Transformers was never a "deep" or serious property to me even when I was a kid....just really neat fantasy that came with toys.
Ironically, I'll finally get a shot at seeing the film this weekend.
And I'm an old school TF fan since 84'.
People say it's horrible?
I'll be the judge of that.
It's just the nonsense with the twins; it's like saying the original Ironhide character from the 80's was offensive to southern people since he had a really, really over done southern twang.
