I havent seen the movie so am going by the various accounts of the issue I have read. With that in mind I think 'racist' is too strong, but the two robots do have elements of stereotyping. I'm sure they were put in to be hip to attract a wider crowd and thats all. If I understand it correctly they werent in the story as written but Bay wanted them as comic relief among other things.

It does bring to mind a little bit the 'Black Stallion' skit from Robot Chicken.

Because ranting about something valid is much different that making mountains out of molehills. If we don't speak up against the whack jobs, who will?

The best thing with Cohen was when someone had threatened to sue him over the Borat movie, and as Borat he stood at the podium saying, "Yes! Sue the Jew!" At least he gets the silliness of the whole thing.

I don't want to see Transformers 2 and I'll tell you why....it looks stupid and from everything I've heard, it is stupid. 151 minutes is too long to sit through a Transformers movie IMO.

Because I haven't heard anything new. Perhaps I should follow up the "just stop" with "... and think of something new to say about it." It's the same complaints about things that as someone else here has indicated, has been in Hollywood and is pretty much here to stay. Product placement has been around since the beginning. I rented "Invasion Earth" (1966) a couple years ago, and recall a "Sugar Puffs" ad making a pretty extended cameo in that film.

The racism spouts are getting boring as well. No real thought behind it. It's just, "hey there's robots that talk jive, and one has a gold tooth." No recognition to the fact that there's an explanation as to why these aliens talk the way they do in the first movie. Never mind the observation that the two bots in question actually seem more like foreign posers that are trying to act the way they think Earthlings act, which is exactly the case. That is what this part of the story signifies, because that was the explanation offered in the first movie.

I'm not saying don't make your voice heard, but unless you've got something I haven't heard before, I don't want to hear it. And hey I can't stop anyone from saying it. As someone else said, they're gonna say it anyway. But this thread was started as a rant. Nothing more. Something I wanted to get off my chest. People can ignore me just the same.

My son liked the movie. Of course he does think Anchorman is the best movie ever made so his taste in movies may be a bit questionable.

humor has it's limits. I mean, what demographic do humping jokes appeal to? The only people laughing at that were a group of 7 or 8 year old boys in the row behind us, who subsequently asked, "mom, what are they doing?"
