It seems like comics is all we will have for a while for the reasons mentioned by Commadore. Even Countdown really takes place in the Prime Universe. The Nero comic will be the first new stories we'll see in the Alternate Universe.

Yeah, I posted elsewhere that Mr. Foster announced today that he is working on the first new original novel for nuTrek and it has a working title of Star Trek: Refugees.

So, if the manuscript is due in October, we might see it by next summer? Or, is that wishful thinking?

My guess is it will be a story involving the Vulcan refugees that left Vulcan before it's destruction, there may have been some that escaped before the planet went Kablooey!

My guess, too. Or, maybe is it about the establishment of the new Vulcan colony. If it is only about them, featuring Sarek and Spock Prime, it would not interfere with any storyline in the alt universe. They could even have Spock make an appearance....on leave or special duty.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Actually, there was confirmation that there will be 4 books next year!

June
"Refugees" by Alan Dean Foster
No details, except that the ‘refugees’ are not the Vulcans.

July
"Seek a Newer World" by Christopher Bennett
Enterprise on a "world-building" mission, but again not the Vulcans.

August
"More Beautiful than Death" by David Mack
Finally, this one will deal with the Vulcans remaining after the destruction of their home planet.

September
Untitled 4th New Star Trek Movie era book
The fourth book is not yet under contract, so no details are available, but it will possibly be a Scotty story.

I'm just happy they are going to continue with the Prime universe books. It will be interesting to see which prevails or if there is room for both.

It would be neat if somewhere down the line we get a Trek novel where some TOS mission occurs in the alternate universe. I'd like to see a new Corbomite Maneuver or perhaps Arena. Imagine Pine taking on the Gorn captain...I think it would be a little more exciting than fighting Shatner, even in written form.
