That was actually one of my problems with Countdown, it seemed very forced the way all of these familiar faces show up, one of whom should be dead (Data). It was like fan fiction in that way. But even at the end of Nemesis it was clear Data was in fact, not dead, but was within the B-4 unit.

The comic writers are only picking up a valid thread the last film started.

True, they left the door open to the possibility, I don't really dispute that. But, it was only a possibility. B-4 was still very limited, that scene implies that at least some of what was Data would live on in B-4.

But I just never could shake that feeling about the countdown comics that it was forced in the way so many of the familiar faces show up.

A lot of them were indeed, for me, throwing Worf and Geordi in was a step too far, Data and Picard were believably included given past stories I thought.

And remember, 8 years have passed between Nemesis and Countdown - which is plenty of time for the Data download to sort itself out.

Yeah, I could have bought one or two familiar faces, it was the overkill that seemed to stretch it for me.
