Default USS Narada (SP-161)

Just thought it would be fun to post this. The USS Narada was a steam powered yacht built in Leith, Scotland and launched in 1889 as a pleasure craft originally named, SS Semiramis. Later she was renamed SS Margarita, and then renamed SS Narada. In 1917, the USN purchaced the Narada for use as a patrol craft in the first world war. The Narada was later returned to her original owner in 1919.

That is actually a very sleek and beautiful vessel. A mixture of power and sail. Very slinky hull design and even back in that era I'll bet she could do 18 knots standing on her head. The man who designed this little ship was a
nautical architect that knew his job well. She almost looks like she was designed and built in the 1930's or 1940's rather than 1889. She's a bit of an advanced design for the 1880's, if you ask me. Damned good looking ship.

Optical illusion. Bunch of smoke and mirrors.

Lovely looking ship. Mind you, built in Scotland it's no wonder she proved durable!
