This was absolute Hell and the engine won't be complete for some time but the top half looks stellar to me. Solid Modeling is quite hard.

I've always thought the Stardrive looks like it was designed seperately from the Saucer. It looks cooler and faster but It was really just the product of the entire design.

FLEET ADMIRAL'S LOG: Earth Date: 0715.2009

After long hours of struggling with AutoCAD's methods of 3D modeling my efforts are minimal. I have yet to complete the secondary hull. Even the small portion that is constructed using the Solid Model technique was the equivalent to taking a bone from a putbull. Difficult at best, impossible at worse. I've taken a short break but I'll be back into it again. I'm commited to this model.

Saq, my hat's off to you. Making AutoCAD do anything correctly is an accomplishment.

I can't tell you how much this is making my normal job easier.

This is not the solid model you see above and that the thread is about.
This is the surface model that already existed. But I just imported it properly into a newer version of AutoCAD with the light updated to the new version. It looks good but I already see the new version will be more difficult to manipulate.


1. The Black on the understid the saucer maybe too much. It could be toned down to a very dark Grey

2. The Deflector looks cool but the wedges on either side of the main Dish that are suposed to be the secondaries look akward especially without all the other lit areas. I'm considering removing the wedges completely.
