I've posted on boards where "chat speak" or insufficient use of capitals would get you banned. It's about clarity and communication, not speed. I understand when it's a text message or a tweat and you have to make every character count. But here, there is just no reason for it.

While, obviously, no one should be picking at every typo or spelling error, just blithely accepting incomprehensible posts because "hey, it's the internet" sort of denigrates this great medium by suggesting it cannot support correct use of the language.

To get back to the original subject of this thread...

I have had exactly NO PMs on this forum...but I don't let it bother me. If anyone decides they would like to ask me something that they think should be private, they will. Seems that most of us manage to say just about everything we need to in the threads, so Private Messaging is there if someone needs it, it just doesn't seem to get used all that much here. So don't obsess over it, dear. It doen't mean we don't like you.

SpockTheCool, it's not like it can just happen. You have to slow down and make the effort. Pretend you're writing a reply on an essay test, if that's what it takes. If you haven't had essay tests yet (and, my daughter has made it through middle school without them) then know that they are in your future. You have the opportunity to practice and learn without the horror of a grade looming over your head.

Fran, I've had tons...I'm not sure it's a great thing. There is a very tight limit on how many messages you can have stored. During the height of avatar production I was having to empty out whole boxes two or three times a week. It really became a burden.

To me, we're exchanging our ideas here on the board. PMs should be rarely used.

Yeah...it's not usually a sign of affection. Though...occassionally it's behind the scenes gossip, but that's really dropped off since the release of the movie.
