I think that this strange behavior will see to that, unfortunately.

I kinda thought it was funny. . . . . . . . weird, but funny. I did not think there would be a hulla baloo over it.

You know, the way that they portrayed it, they have Shatner coming off like a loud obnoxious drunk, and that's not the way I remember his appearances at all. He's usually quite witty. |

The Shat does not NEED to be in the sequel. 'Nuff said.

The Shat interview starts at 31:35
http://www.tonightshowwithconanobrie...s/#vid=1127427 The entire Daily Mail report is a pack of lies. The interview was funny, and both Shatner and Conan were having a blast. I don't understand why they would spin it like that.

Hilarious segment. The Shat is a magnificent ham, I love him, but I can do without him in the next movie.

He would have to get away from any 'Kirk' comparisons but simply as another actor I wonder if he would take a part in the next movie as a new character that really hams it up. He would be free to do anything, including some 'in-jokes' about Kirk. He could make a really different 'Cyrano Jones' peddling Tribbles. It doesnt matter about his past work in Trek, as an actor all that matters is whether or not he could pull it off in the new part.

I finally saw Shatner's appearance on Conan last week and it wasn't nearly as bad as The Daily Mail made out to be. In fact, it wasn't bad at all. It was all in good fun. As others have already said, as well.
It's true that he did seem a bit "out of sorts," but this is Hollywood -- bright lights, big city -- and he's pushing 80. It's amazing he still remembers what happened seven decades ago when he was a student at McGill traveling with a buddy. I actually saw a clip of his performance last year on Conan's original show. I have to admit that that performance, which lasted about 10 minutes, was funnier than this one. But The Shat is a year older. Still a great storyteller, though. Self-promoter extraordinaire, but these days, who isn't? Probably won't be Kirk in the next movie, though. Last edited by Star Trek Viewer : 06-21-2009 at 04:44 AM. |
