Default dreams

last night i had a dream that i had to put my cat down cause she was sick. But she really isnt sick she is healthy and loves to play. I woke up sobbing and the cat was on the floor and came up to my bed and comforted me then we got a call from a friend: our freind Margaret passed away she had Nuemona and then our other friend one of her friends died to. I am really sad She used to cut our hair and sell Avon and i will miss you a lot.

I'm so sorry. How interesting that you would dream about death that night, too.

I believe dreams are only mental manefestations of things we encounter during the day. They have no significance whatsoever, they're just a naturally occuring form of built in entertainment. Movies before movies were invented. Dreams are usually disjointed and constantly changing, oddly shifting and usually weirdly inconsistant. Ever since an accident I had in 1994, all of my dreams have been the negative, dark, frightening kind of dreams, commonly known as "nightmares". What I wouldn't give for a green field with flowers and bunny rabbits and cotton candy clouds, but all I get now are apocalyptic visions of doom, destruction and horror. That's why I don't waste too much time sleeping anymore.

I believe MOST dreams are manifestations of what we encounter during the day. Thoughts running through our head during our day influence our dream. Sort of like watching a scary movie and having a nightmare that night. BUT, I believe some dreams aren't so simple. Had Spokthecool had some sort of death in her friends or family, then I could understand how that influenced her dream have a death element. That WASN'T the case. She had a dream with elements unknown to her until AFTER she awoke. Simply coincidence? Maybe, but many people have had premonition type dreams and they can't be dismissed simply as coincidence. Reminds me of another thread. I think I'll "bump" it for spokthecool to see.

I agree with Q. I think there is something happening in our brains that senses events in a way we don't yet understand. I've had this happen to me multiple times (the phone rings and I know who it is before picking up, for one pedestrian example), and my husband has experienced this too. I hope one day science will help explain what's happening there.

Check out my Ghost/Spirit thread in the off topic area. There are some great stories there.
