I like the idea of the new class if not the exact execution. It's much like the original Constitution class. It does everything and does it well. It's not too big (Sovereign and Galaxy classes.) It's not too small (Nova and Deviant.) Nor is as specialized as the Oberth and aforementioned Defiant. It's just a good all around starship. It's as if they kept refitting the original Conny right up to the 25th century. I did my version of this design about 15 years ago.

I wouldn't go that far, but a overhaul of the design is needed.

It certainly fits with the design evolution that Trek showed us. The top down view is better than the first from below.

It's a little ordinary - but then there have been some dud designs already in Trek. It's not my favourite, but not the worst.
