I think they're getting better, now, though. Since my return for the
past few weeks, the Admin there have been getting rid of the spammers
quickly. Good fun.

That's good to here but I don't understand why they'd let it fall into disrepair unless this was a pay issue.

I'd hate to see the same thing happen here as well.

It was pretty much smooth sailing on StarTrek.COM during the unmoderated period. It was only towards the end that the major spamming started.

My point is that I prefer professional mods to members being given mod powers.

I also feel it's better if mods do not post in discussions and threads often, other than in threads relating to modwork, because I feel when mods do that, there is a tendency for some to develop grudges against members.

Differences in debates can spill over into modwork.

OH yes...it can spill over.I've had it happend to me...and to tell you the truth I think mods should participate but they should be the first to stand down on a debate that goes out of control.

From what I have seen at st.com, 2 admins have come and gone already.

Plus, the team running the web site have not updated the main page since December.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 3 admins...one was a lady at one point, back on the old PeopleLink boards. The new admin team has been doing pretty well, especially with keeping the idiot spammers at bay.

They probably haven't updated the main page because there's really nothing to update. It's not CBS's job to promote the movie, and there's no new TV projects in the works.

They always have, except for way back they had user mods in the chat rooms, I believe. Didn't work out well.

StarTrekEditor always said that due to legal constraints from Paramount (then later CBS) they were unable to use the help of anyone not under CBS employ.

It wasn't so much in disrepair, according to Marc Wade (the former "StarTrekEditor") they were basically told on that second Friday of December "Today is your last day" and that was that, and the new team was only put in place a little over three weeks ago or so. There was just no one there to do anything.

Now there's just not that much to do.

The main page to st.com could be changed to look less cluttered like it is, and more uniformed and clean.

I understand their us nothing to update regarding the TV Shows, but they could spotlight a show every other week or something.

Aside from the message boards, the site is not longer interactive.

I'm going to miss the April Fools joke this year...
