Before i get accused of helping to spread the negativity, i want to make this disclaimer, I am only posting a link to this youtube video, not because i share the creator's opinions regarding this movie, but because i see it as something fun, thought provoking, and discussion worthy.

I appreciate the topic, but I'm not going to view those videos. My memories of this new movie are too pristine to sully them with such criticism.

I only had time to watch a few of the reasons on the first two vids. On the first vid a couple of them did have a point if thought of in the right spirit. Lens flares and bald Romulans etc. The usual. I might watch more of that one tomorrow and see how the rest goes.

But I only got through 2 reasons on the second vid because they were just mean. Aint touching that one again. It was more like a rant than a list of reasons.

I agree. Not about the abstaining, but that some of the "so-called" reasons don't appear to be reasons at all, but points. Points of dislike.

For me, it is too fun to resist, and i won't get all upset about it. But some of the points do seem mean spirited. However, i thought some good points were made about how the vision of the future in the new Trek movie, isn't so idealized and so a departure from Roddenberry's vision.

it's not real trek. in fact, there hasn't been real trek.

have you ever noticed that when you ask people "what do you like most about trek," the answers you get can be used to deduce which trek they watched the most, even when no names are given?

TOS wasn't real trek, because real trek isn't slapstick and stereotyping
TAS wasn't real trek, because real trek has more depth than a Saturday Morning cartoon
TNG wasn't real trek, because real trek is more action-oriented
DS9 wasn't real trek, because real trek is less "military"

I didn't follow Voyager and Enterprise clearly enough to continue this list, but the fact is, there IS NO REAL TREK. I thought this movie was a real groaner, but I LIKED it none-the-less. Trek was dead, and this gave it a chance to come back. it might be different, but at least it's SOMETHING.

lets all give thanks that our geekdom lives again, shall we?

I like the video. Most of it 98.6 correct.
Don't watch this if you take Star Trek with any seriousness at all though. It exposes the worse of what JJ Abrams has done, some can't handle it so stay far far away from this.

Well, I was going to watch them all, but as soon as he called Leonard Nimoy a d***head he lost any any amusement factor he had.

Not to say a couple of points are not semi-valid, but half of the points are so laughably down to personal preferences they are worthless as valid reasons. I mean, what does not liking the actor playing George Kirk have to do with anything? Perhaps a short, fat, hairy, buck-toothed individual would look like the genetic stock Kirk came from? The Kelvin's doctor? Well, let's see - Deanna Troi was impossible to distinguish from a human and she was an alien - at least the doc looked different.

So, yes, it's well done and amusing - but he has said nothing that gives any good reason to agree with him.

Should that have been his intention.

And I presume he will turn his attention to all the other films in the franchise as well? They are not without the scope for a similar list.
