I must be going crazy. I thought I posted here. I choose USS Grissom. My second choice is the Shuttlepod from The Defiant, I love it.! Then there is the sleek pod from NX-01

Yes, I think it's quite possible that runabouts have been used as shuttles, although they are essentially mini-starships. Imagine having one of those parked at the airport. You could dash off to Alpha Centauri in no time.

  • The Delta Flyer because it could do much more than the standard shuttles;
  • The SC-4 (Admiral Janeway's shuttle): transphasic torpedoes, ablative armour, stealth generator... Seriously. I don't think anything can beat that.

Wow, what a nice thread this is! I love it! I love those schematics, and great comments, too, everyone.

I'll have to Google "SC-4," Lady Vaako. I'd forgotten about it. Seems to be quite a tough little ship! (No offense to the Defiant! )

There's also the "Merchantman" which has had a recurring role in Trek, first in Search for Spock, and a couple of episodes of DS-9 (with a different paintjob) I love it's "horshoe crab" styled forward section! From what I read in Cinefex, the ship was a "weekend wonder" by the modelmakers when they needed a ship for the movie.

Didn't they reuse that ship for the Sheliak in TNG?

They reused that ship many a time, just like the 'combat vessel' from Unification...
