As Lucas has claimed that Vader has been inspired by Tolkien's Sauron and as there are similarities between the Dark Side and Tolkien's Dark Lords like Morgoth or Sauron in terms of this dark power being about corrupting and destroying and not about creating, I find it more likely that Plagueis has only created Frankenstein-like creatures (mirroring the Trolls = corrupted Ents, Orcs = corrupted Elves idea of Tolkien).

The prophecy, virgin birth, mystery story makes more sense IMO.

Such wonderful and epic story elements make the prequel trilogy superior to the original for me.

Certainly watching Palpatine's manipulations to get to his ends were quite interesting to observe.

To me, Ian McDiarmid was the actor who gave the prequel trilogy some literal or theatre-like quality. Just like McKellen or Stewart in X-Men, or to remain in Star Wars, Alec Guinness in the original trilogy.
Seems as if all the gems in Hollywood come from GB, Hopkins also comes to mind.

Just last week, I ordered the original version DVD set for my SW-nut son. He does not like the new Star Wars and prefers the old. As for me- I miss the sound the carbonite thingy makes when Leah (?) is rescuing Han. I cannot imagine why Lucas would remove such a cool effect!

I wondered for a while what they'd do when they try to re-invent Star Wars and finally decided that when CGI reached 'cinematic quality' they might go that route. But since they wouldn't wait for that and Clone Wars went over like a fart in church compared to what was expected I'm at a loss as to what they could pull off successfully. Maybe they'll go for that 3rd trilogy.
