I thought this war was going to go on for a lot longer. But when I heard that Wal-mart was pulling all HD-DVD hard/software, and then Toshiba stepped down, it was inevitable.

Now we wait for the news from Paramount.

Oh great. That means I have not only replace my HD DVD player but the first season of TOS. You know they'll re-release it in Blu-Ray as well as the other seasons. Grrrrrrrr! Knew I should have waited!

if you have an HD DVD player and the first season of TOS on HD DVD....you can still watch it; you dont HAVE to get rid of it just cause they dont sell them anymore. hell i still watch tons of movies on vhs. and you dont HAVE to get blu-ray either.

To be honest, it wasn't a very surprising result given the support that Blu-ray has had. To be honest, I would normally have held off for a while before deciding on either format but because the PS3 included Blu-Ray i decided to take the plunge and I haven't been disappointed in either the games or the film quality!

Only problem I have is kicking my folks off their massive HD tv so that I can enjoy the full benefit of the games!

Sony should be really happy by this news. Their PS3 was losing relevancy lately so now it's come back from being a joke. Still don't think the System was better than PS2.

well. blu-ray was one of the main reasons it was produced in the first place; as an alternative to other next generation video players. It just wasnt marketed well enough for that purpose.

Sony is fairly stupid when it comes to movie stuff. I mean, they were the ones responsible for the failure that is Beta-Max.

Ps3 is lackluster, poor game quality and choice, overpriced. Xbox360 has always been my choice for the next gen gaming consoles, but now that HD is gone... i dunno. If Ps3 steps up their games, and if home ever freaking came out I may splurge.

I just wish the wii could play movies.
